Joe's Quest

Block annoying 114so.cn DNS hijack

The answer is change the DNS to 114.114.114.114 and 114.114.115.115 which are provided by 114dns.com. Note that 114DNS is NOT 114so.cn

Every netizen in China may have experienced the problem that when visiting a nonexistent website, the browser jumps to a website named 114so.cn (or some other website running by ISP), which is full of annoying advertisement, to tell you that the website does not exist. And for the well-known reason, the public free DNS server provided by google 8.8.8.8 is blocked in China. 114DNS is a good alternative.

It doen’t help to change the situation of being in the wall, but at least, it keeps some robbers out.
